A.L.V.F. 305 mm Model 1906 & 1906/10

Hi,

I present Genius from France and starting in 3D modeling. I have modeled a railroad gun of ww1 for Rise of flight.

It's the 305 mm Model 1906 & 1906/10 on mounting with slip Gun ("305mm sur affut glissant Schneider").
It's a low poly model (less than 3000 poly for LOD0)

JVM (JV Masset) told me about your site and your work (superb ! I :love: :love: your work)

I'm working on the animation but i don't know how to find the 3ds tool "event" like this:

For me x / y / z are immediatley after rotation. :ggly:

I also looking for people who could provide me with the texturing.

Hello Genius,

my deep apologies that I haven't seen your post for almost 4 weeks :fffuuu: m( I even didn't knew that posts by new members have to be administrated. And I didn't get a notification email. Who is resposible for this cr*p forum?? ;)

Anyways, welcome to Foo'rum! :)

As I can see you've managed to put a model into RoF. This is something I wasn't even trying to do.

Unfortunately I'm no good teacher for animation and actually I'm trying to teach myself how to do it. Building a railway gun is not the most simple example, perhaps it would have been better to start with a simple 2-axle wagon? ;)

But I think I can tell you how to texture and map the model generally. But first we have to know how big textures and what file type they have to be for RoF. I don't have any experience on that field.

Hi Foo'Bar,

No problem for the delay.

For the animation problem, Syn_Vander from the rof forum help me. The solution is the argument based rotation in 3DS. I will be made a tutoral for this.a

For texture, i have made one uv mapping for many artillery models (194mm TAZ, 305 mm, german 380mm on concrete position and train position, etc..). One file texture in dds format (2048x2048) will be shared for all models.

Rof use one file texture for undammage model and one or more for damage model.

When i have finish other projection (some forts of verdun), i will post some update.

Did you build different LODs or just one per model?

I have built 3/4 lod per model, damaged model are not modeled yet.

I use blender for all models (it's the software I know better and I have more ease). I use 3ds max 8 for export in game format and animation, the plugin works only with this version.
